LONGWOOD, FL--In 1945, several Arab travelers found a series of Codices bound in leather covers and buried near the town of Nag Hammadi west of the Nile River in Egypt. Their translation in the 1970s by Christian scholars revealed ancient documents written during the first century of the Christian era. Referred to as the Gnostic Gospels, only 12 scrolls were preserved. The 13th scroll was inadvertently destroyed and presumed lost forever--until modern times, when it was discovered that a duplicate had been made and taken to the court of the Kublai Khan in China. This duplicate, dissected in the riveting new Xulon Press book, The Way: Secrets of the Lost 13th Nag Hammadi Scroll ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-877-0), by Richard-Merlin Atwater, reveals the distilled wisdom of the ages that lead to eternity.

"Readers will come to understand the truth--from the Scriptures--that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation in the kingdom of God," the author says. "These ancient documents confirm that the Bible Scriptures are true and also substantiate the findings from the Dead Sea scrolls that were found two years after the Nag Hammadi scrolls were found in Egypt. [This is important] because to accept (or reject) Jesus Christ as your personal Savior will determine the outcome of where you reside in eternity!"

Atwater, a retired Air Force Major and former university professor, had a 30-year career as an American Defense Intelligence Officer in Soviet affairs and counter-terrorism, says that he nearly lost his life several times during terrorist attacks against his intelligence operations. His life was spared so that he might bear witness to the world of the truth regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ as the way to salvation.
