LONGWOOD, FL-Prepare to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Written for all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds, Xulon Press author Edward L. Harris' book, The Quest: An Inspirational Guide to Achieving Your Purpose in Life ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-262-4), is intended to encourage and empower men and women who are uncertain of their destiny or lot in life to find hope from within by tapping into their own innate, God-given abilities. The words of this book are a compilation of notes, articles, and inspirational thoughts as well as the author's own personal experiences, which will guide the reader to achieving their purpose in life.

"I have shared many of these truths and experiences while teaching classes in church and other venues, often thinking that they would form the basis for a meaningful and practical book since they are irrefutably true and biblically sound," the author says. "There is nothing new or inventive contained here that will provide a quick fix or guarantee immediate results or success; there is only the reemphasizing of old truths mixed with interesting examples of success, and inspirational verse and anecdotes reflecting one man's interpretation of God's plan for achieving success."

Harris says that the idea for The Quest came about a few years ago as he was contemplating retirement. He felt as though the fine was finally right to become serious about writing this book, an idea he had conceptualized only recently. "I was reading one day in Psalms, and chapter 71: 17 and 18 spoke to me..." he explains. "No, I've not achieved great notoriety, fame, or fortune; however, I have experienced a lifelong, wonderfully close relationship with a loving heavenly Father who has directed me in living a fruitful and satisfying life, and I want to declare truths I've learned to this generation as well as encourage those of my generation."
