LONGWOOD, FL-Take a journey with Annie, a young woman not unlike many Americans today, in Xulon Press author Vanessa Derrico's new title, Walk out of Financial Darkness ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-490-1; $22.99, hardcover, 978-1-60957-491-8). She has maxed-out credit cards, pays bills late because she refuses to open her mail, and feels as though she is drowning where money is concerned. When Annie feels like there is no hope left, an unexpected helper named Simon arrives to teach her ten lessons on basic money management. Instead of lecturing, he creates situations that she must experience. This method will allow Annie, and the reader, to easily understand how the financial concept works.

"The reader will gain information for creating a solid financial foundation through lessons that the main character, Annie, is taught," the author says. "The lessons are not taught in a usual way. Instead, Annie's teacher, Simon, will have Annie experience situations that help illustrate a concept. Through these lessons, my hope is that the reader will gain confidence as they make different money decisions, which will allow them to control their money instead of money controlling them."

Derrico has met with thousands of individuals since 2005, between her experiences as a financial advisor and a facilitator of seminars, classes, and one-on-one coaching. She has tested firsthand how basic financial concepts work, how to explain them to others, and what pitfalls too avoid. "All of that experience gained in executing these concepts in my household and with the people I have helped has gone into creating this book," she explains.
