LONGWOOD, FL-While living, traveling, and teaching abroad on the continent of Asia, author Juanita Grant taught English on a military base, as well as to Japanese teachers off-base. During this time, she also worked very closely with Pearl Buck orphans who were not allowed to attend regular Japanese schools. In the midst of her many encounters in a non-Christian country, she grew closer to God, and in My Heart Knows: A Katrina Survivor (paperback, 978-1-60477-242-5) she documents that experience through easy-to-read poems, reflections, and spiritual truths. Her book is a refreshing addition to the annals of Christian literature. This Scripture-based manual of personal growth and maturity will remind readers that in this chaotic world, God's constant care is an oasis in a very dry place.

Says Grant, "The one most important thing that can be said about my book is because my writings grew out of my own personal encounters, they are deeply heartfelt with much discerning. It is my sincere hope that readers will develop a keen desire to either begin a spiritual journey or deepen a relationship to God our Father."

An arts lover who writes devotional, inspirational, and children's poetry and prose for pleasure, Grant credits her commitment to living out her destiny as the impetus for penning My Heart Knows. She believes her readers, too, can live out their destiny by merely taking a leap of faith: "Your passion, that thing you love to do that glorifies God, just may be your purpose," the author says. "Seek His face and He will show you. Then take the next step by faith!"

Juanita Grant holds a M.Ed. in education. She lives in Baker, Louisiana.
