LONGWOOD, FL--In a world full of focus on victims and victim's rights, Xulon Press author Rick Russ saw the opportunity to bring the message of salvation to the offenders, America's ever-increasing prison population, in order to help spread the message of salvation to the lost. In Finding Grace Behind Bars: A True Story of God Changing the Lives of Inmates and Their Teacher ($16.99, paperback, 978-1-61579-640-3), the author tells how God changed the lives of the inmates to whom he ministered and, in the process, changed his life as well. This is a book that describes a ministry to men and women who, from hardened circumstances, find the softness of salvation through personal forgiveness and an understanding that Christ's arms are long enough to reach around even the vilest sinner to bring them to Him. Readers will learn that no matter how far they, too, have fallen, God can always rescue them.

"I hope the readers see the power of God in inmates' lives," the author says. "It tells the true story of society's outcasts and how they long to be forgiven. They long to turn their life around and be accepted. God does not wish for anyone to be thrown away."

For the past five years, Russ has taught a Bible study class to more than 4,000 male and female inmates at the Georgetown County Detention Center in Georgetown, South Carolina. "I have been touched by their stories and their triumphs as well as their tragedies," he says. "One of my strongest desires is to help lead the lost to Jesus. God has transformed lives."
