LONGWOOD, FL--Within the pages of author Debra Dove's new Xulon Press title, The Fur Flew ($19.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-425-3), is a fictional story about a little abused girl who is abandoned in the woods to die. She embarks on a fantastic journey through the valley of the shadow of death, meeting several characters on her way to the City of Lights to meet the Christ--or "M'sheekha." She pairs up with an animated talking rabbit that is also on the way to the City of Lights.

It is the author's hope that, after reading this book, readers will be filled with hope for the future, regardless of their current circumstances. "For years I worked in the field of child and adult abuse and wanted to do something to provide people with hope, especially when all apparent hope has evaporated, and to bring some praise to the greatest love we could ever encounter," she says.

For the last several years, Dove says, she has not been able to work due to having had multiple surgeries. Because of this, she began praying and asking God to inspire her on what she could do. "One morning before getting out of bed, I heard the old Easter song in my head, 'Here Comes Peter Cottontail,'" she explains. "I prayed again, asking for clarification, as I have often wanted to open a store and sell specialty cotton clothing. The following morning I had a clear picture in my head. I was handed an envelope with a message that said 'publish.' So that's how the story began."

Debra Dove currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida.
