LONGWOOD, FL--Many Christians today have gotten so caught up within society that they have forgotten the first and second greatest commandments. In so doing, they do themselves more harm, yet it is a collective selfishness and stubbornness that keeps people from acknowledging they are nothing without God. Step Stones (To the Second Greatest Commandment) ($16.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-778-0) is the path that God led author Jim Scheeringa down when he needed to discover what love really was. Within the pages of this new book from Xulon Press, the author shares how he struggled with the concept of love and how God led him through His Word to teach him. By treading this same path, readers will learn how to truly receive the blessings from God that He is so willing to share through His grace.

"My prayers are that it is not too late for our society, that Christians can be the ones leading us to a right standing so that we can be forgiven," the author says. "We must first get back to the basics of what we are called to do. It all comes down to not what God can do for me, but what can I do to further the kingdom of God. Only love true love will lead us out of this mess we are in."

Scheeringa, a resident of Nashville, Tennessee, says that he spent a lifetime experiencing the negative side of many Christians. Despite this, God allowed him into His joy, peace, and grace, leading him gently back to His Word and ultimately back to Him. It is his hope that by sharing these experiences with others, people will gain a better understanding of the Christian life and what is required of Christians.
