LONGWOOD, FL-Bad things happen to good people all the time. But the biggest part of claiming victory over all of life's battles is the power of not knowing, letting go, and allowing God to do the rest, says Audre'L Davis-Jones in her newest Xulon Press title, Battle Scars of Emotions: Divine Healing from the Scars of Life (paperback, 978-1-60477-996-7; hardcover, 978-1-60477-997-4). This personal testimony is part biography of the author's chaotic journey through life and part social commentary on many of the issues prevalent in today's society (such as domestic violence, date rape, molestation, teenage pregnancy, and death, to name a few).

A teenage mother who was married at the age of sixteen and had the firsthand experience of being a battered woman, Davis-Jones hopes her testimony will give others the tools, knowledge, and wisdom to regain their self-love, joy, peace, and happiness. "[I have] chosen to be the voice for these women and teenagers who simply can not speak of the horrible things that are mentioned in the book that they may have encountered," the author says. "[Mine] is the personal testimony of hundreds of thousands of women throughout the United States."

Additionally, the author's sharing her poignant story allowed her to come to grips with her own tumultuous past and to be an inspiration to women of all ethnicities. As a life coach and advocate for youth, teens, and single women who have experienced the same encounters in life, she offers spiritual guidance and mentorship through a variety of programs, such as the Children and Women Ministries for Grays Temple C.M.E. Church in West Palm Beach, Florida, and the JAPA Program in Miami.
