New Book Cites Faith in Jesus as Vital Ingredient of Good Health

Cancer-stricken author sought naturally beneficial form of treatment

2008-09-19

LONGWOOD, FL-Four years ago, Xulon Press author Sharon Schwartz suffered a bout with cancer. When she elected not to use chemo or radiation in her treatment, the author discovered that by changing her way of eating-according to what is taught in the Scriptures-and by depending on Jesus, she could be brought back to good health. The remarkable story, chronicled in Following the Shepherd for Life ($13.99, paperback, 978-1-60647-351-1), will strengthen readers' faith by allowing them to trust God and His Word to follow through in the direction He leads them. And, the author adds, people will become familiar with different types of treatments that are beneficial to their natural defenses.

Says Schwartz, "I hope people will take the time to pray, seek God's Word, and wait before going ahead on any decision. Often we make a decision and then seek God to help us. When He gives us changes to make, He will equip us to follow through."

The study cites the 23rd Psalm as one of the most important scriptural passages believers can pattern their lives after. The passage, says the author, "teaches us a lot about sheep and how they depend on the Shepherd for everything. They follow the Shepherd and do what He tells them to do. We should too."

Sharon Schwartz has been married for 30 years to her husband, Jeff. They reside in Tyler, Texas, and are the parents of two married children, Melissa and Eric.
