2008-09-25

LONGWOOD, FL-As a child, Xulon Press author Elizabeth Walker was a victim of sexual abuse. In The Tablet of My Heart (paperback), the author's new release from Xulon Press, the author recounts her road to freedom from the stronghold of abuse-which was through God. By paving a road to freedom for her, He worked continuously throughout her life, even when she refused to acknowledge it. These poems, excerpted from her childhood diary, describe some of the very emotions she experienced while going through the abuse.

Says the author, "I hope that readers will gain insight into the depths of abuse, and understanding in regards to what it steals from its victims. For victims themselves, I hope to bring to them the realization that they have an active role in their own healing. I hope to get the national abuse hotline into the hands of the people who need it, whichever side of the abuse they are on."

The subject of abuse is one that touches the lives of people all around the world. The Tablet of My Heart is one author's timely response to a subject that needs to be repeatedly brought to the forefront of the minds of the public so we do not forget to recognize the signs of child abuse when they are present.

Elizabeth Walker currently resides in Colorado.
