LONGWOOD, FL-In Xulon author Gwen Lepkowski's Cross-Country Treasure Hunt (And the Mystery That Followed) (paperback, 978-1-60647-638-3), eleven-year-old detective in the making Josh Reed and his family go on an ultimate treasure hunt across the United States to unravel an enigmatic mystery. As they travel, they see and explore the awesome wonders of God's creation, from giant sequoia trees and snow-capped mountains to arid deserts and vast oceans. Throughout the good times and difficult times, they learn to rely on God and each other, and discover the real treasure of each other.

Says the author, "I want children to enjoy reading and using their heads to solve clues. They can also learn something about the states through which the family travels (which is great for homeschooling families and Christian schools). I also hope they will see the beauty of God's creation. I hope families will choose to read this book together. Most of all, I want readers to realize the treasure of those close to them."

A teacher and storyteller by trade, Lepkowski wanted to write a book that would promote family closeness instead of family bickering. The fruit of her labors, Cross-Country Treasure Hunt, is unique in that it combines spiritual and educational value with the fun factor of reading an exciting book, figuring out clues, and solving a mystery. "Although [this book is] for any child or family that likes adventure or mystery, this book will be especially valuable for use in a home school or Christian school environment," the author says.
