LONGWOOD, FL--In the United States, one in two marriages ends in divorce. This figure becomes even more staggering when considering how many families are torn apart in the wake of a divorce. Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) can develop as a result of divorce but also can occur in intact families. Join Xulon Press author Joan Hellerich, MPH, as she shares her personal story of experiencing divorce and 13 years of heart-wrenching pain from PAS with her two young sons in Parenting from a Distance: Living Through Divorce and the Losses of Parental Alienation ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60791-148-7). Her story provides information about PAS and how it affects the targeted parents, but most of all, how it impacts the children even into their adult years. This step-by-step guide will provide faith-filled encouragement, practical solutions, and hope for dealing with intense stress and grief.

Says Hellerich, "I experienced thirteen years of heart-wrenching pain from Parental Alienation Syndrome. I share my setbacks and adversities and how I overcame them." Thankfully, the author says, hers is a story that had a happy ending. "It didn't happen overnight, but with help from God and my friends, perseverance and faith, my story has a victorious ending. My sons are now young adults and I enjoy a warm, loving relationship with both."

After initially experiencing shock, anger, guilt, and depression, Hellerich turned to God for forgiveness, acceptance, and healing. In God, she found a way to conquer the trials and tribulations that accompanied PAS. She was inspired by these experiences to pen a book that would help others in similar circumstances cope with their tremendous stress and grief.
