MAITLAND, FL— The storms of life often roll in
quickly and unannounced. The lack of warning can leave most in a paralyzing
grip of fear, but it is how the situation is handled that shows a person’s true
character. Within the pages of Judy Gerdis’s new book, Get In the Boat ($18.99,
paperback, 978-1-61904-348-0;
$28.99, hardcover, 978-1-61904-349-7; $9.49, eBook, 978-1-61996-083-1), readers will find an inspirational, yet
humorous account of her battle with cancer. Even through the fear and the
uncertainty both she and her family and friends were facing, Gerdis began to realize
that keeping a sense of humor was imperative to her recovery and her faith
would ease the journey and leave her stronger on the other side. This book will
inspire and lead readers to not only find humor in the storms of life, but to
also strengthen their relationship with the Lord.
“I was ill prepared for the storm which would envelope my life and the lives of my friends and family, so I hope that Get In the Boat will encourage trust in the One who made the storm can, and will, take it away,” Gerdis expresses. “During the many months of treatment I experienced just about every side effect and some, the doctors had never seen. In addition, three grandchildren were born during that time; two were born with life threatening illnesses. My husband suffered health issues of his own, yet through it all I strove to maintain a balance of faith and humor.”
Judy Gerdis was born in Sitka, Alaska to missionaries. She now resides with her husband outside of Louisville, Kentucky. They are the proud grandparents of six grandchildren. The author hopes this book will reach not only those currently struggling through a storm, but also those who just need a little inspiration to re-spark their faith in the Lord.
