MAITLAND, FL— Most people think of a church as four walls, some pews and a steeple. Robb Myers points out in his new book, Life and Love, More Abundantly ($20.99, paperback, 978-1-61904-244-5; $32.99, hardcover, 978-1-61904-245-2; $9.99, e-book, 978-1-61904-548-4), that a church can and should be much more than a building. He explains that a church is only as effective as its culture, which is directly influenced by two things; proper doctrine based on the Bible and the creation and the maintenance of a community of people who truly love each other. Readers will find chapters on the history of the church’s influence in the United States, how various doctrines led to action and those actions which caused several groups to either grow or become stagnate.

Culture precedes politics and economics; we can’t change the latter two without first changing the former,” states the author. “Part of the analysis [of this book] is looking at how various doctrines led to certain actions, the doctrines and actions which led certain groups to grow or stagnate and what parts of American culture allows openings for Christians to influence culture.”

Robb Myers was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska where he currently resides in with his wife. He received a degree in philosophy from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks where he also minored in history and political science.
