MAITLAND, FL— Shoes hold a valuable place in the physical world, but they always infer a deeper meaning. Within the pages of These Old Shoes ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-61996-365-8; $25.99, hardcover, 978-1-61996-366-5; $7.99, eBook, 978-1-61996-367-2), Barry Amacker’s new book, the author shares as a young child he offered the shoes on his feet to a boy who had none, at the time he did not realize that by removing his shoes to give someone else he would be putting on the shoes the Lord had intended for him to wear. This book also presents the idea of individuals putting on their spiritual shoes for their walk with the Lord.

“A solider without adequate footwear to provide a solid sure step will not be very effective in the heat of battle,” states the author. “Similarly, we require an assortment of spiritual footwear if we are to walk firmly in the path of a victorious Christian life. As you read this book, please examine yourself and let God direct the next steps you should take the shoes you should put on."

Barry Amacker currently serves as the Superintendent of Education for the Jackson County School District in Mississippi. He has previously served as band director, assistant principal and principal in the Mobile County school system in Alabama. The author earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of South Alabama and later earned a Master’s degree in Education from the same college and a doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University.
