MAITLAND, FL Lucille Rains’ new book, YA WANNA LAUGH? ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-61904-500-2) is a collection of true stories that span the author’s life. They are from letters that were saved as a diary to preserve humorous incidents for personal and family entertainment. Rains’ hope is to reciprocate the laughter to her readers as was brought to her from another author’s humorous essays.

Humor has the magical power to change lives. My mother is a perfect example of this. She was born at a time when women had no say… Her lot in life was to have every baby possible and to work from dawn to dusk,” states the author. “Two things got her through life successfully– she had a rich spiritual life and a great sense of humor. My book is an extension of her influence in my life.”

Lucille Rains is a professional piano technician. Though she initially pursued a career in jazz on piano and bass, she had to forego this ambition when she became a single parent and the sole breadwinner of a household. Since she had always tuned her own piano, it was a logical move to enter the piano business. Going in and out of so many homes had its own unexpected reward. It not only kept her in touch with the pulse of America, but also brought with it many memorable experiences and stories.
