MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of Andy Ring’s new book, Looking with the Heart ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-62230-970-2; $7.99, e-book, 978-1-62230-971-9) readers will discover the account of a miracle-filled journey, one family’s true adventure of moving into a new continent for a timeless purpose. The author emphasizes to readers, that in order to love someone from a different culture, it is important not to judge until his or her perspective is made clear.

“This book provides a firsthand example of faith in a modern world,” states the author. “Bible translation today is a highly academic work, yet it still requires steps of faith and a dependence on divine grace. Few get the opportunity to live for years at a time outside their own culture. This book gives the reader the opportunity to see and hear the heartbeat of West Africa.

The Rings joined Wycliffe in 1975 and went to Ghana in 1979. They started translation work among the Lelemi speaking people in 1981. Their aim was to bring God's word to language groups still without it. Apart from their translation work, the Rings have led survey teams in Ghana to identify languages still needing translation. They've also held training courses for national translators and served in administration. Andy holds a PhD in Sociolinguistics from Georgetown University, and Kate an MA in Social Sciences from Azusa Pacific University.
