MAITLAND, FL— In her new book, What Makes God Laugh? ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-62419-298-2; $25.99, hardcover, 978-1-62419-299-9; $9.99, e-book, 978-1-62419-300-2) Daphne M. Pitts’s desire is to show one of the many aspects of God's nature to a young child in a way in which he or she can easily relate to and to make them smile. The author states “[My mission is] to let the child know that first – God is their friend.”

“I want the young reader to understand that while God is all-powerful and all-knowing, He also can relate to us and the things we experience,” states the author. “I believe the story of Lazarus as told by John in the 11th chapter shows us that God does feel emotion. John 11:35 tells us that Jesus wept when he saw how deeply saddened Mary and the others were at the death of Lazarus.  Well, surely if He can cry, He laughs!”

Daphne M. Pitts is originally from Nashville Tennessee and was raised in a Christian home. She graduated Tennessee State University with a B.A. in Biology and French. The author received her M.D. from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. She served as a physician in the U.S. Air Force for several years after residency. Daphne M. Pitts currently resides in South FL with her husband Greg and a few of the grown children who have not yet "left the nest".
