MAITLAND, FL—  Ken White’s newest Xulon Press title, Evolution of a Spirit: One Man’s Journey ($15.99, paperback, 9781619969339) is a collection of White’s poetry over the years, starting from some written in his youth to poems written recently. The poetry spans time periods of pain and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder as a Vietnam vet to periods of awakening faith and spiritual healing. The book covers a range of topics woven together as a result of the author’s character development, including faith, marriage, divorce and fatherhood. The poems reflect his realizations and redemption through love he received from God and now shares with all mankind.

The poems are snapshots of his journey, “a journey from death into Life,” states the author. “I hope readers will see how God has worked in my life and led me to a greater spiritual maturity. This book may help others find they are not alone and there really is a light at the end of the tunnel.” White hopes this book will particularly bless other veterans and soldiers, to offer them hope and a way to navigate the negative effects they may be dealing with as a result of being in the services. White acknowledges that his fellow servicemen reap not just physical and mental consequences, but also deal with spiritual illnesses that only God can rectify. He hopes that his personal insights and success after tribulation can contribute to that of others.

Ken White is a Vietnam War veteran, having served this country through two tours of duty. He grew up in many different places as his father was also a serviceman and his mother was a registered nurse who could work anywhere. White graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1970 and retired due to disability after the two tours in Vietnam. While at the Academy he achieved top scores in English College Boards. He currently resides in the greater Washington, D.C. area with his wife.
