MAITLAND, FL— In her new book, STOLEN: A DAUGHTER’S CHRONOLOGY OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND THE IMPACT OF IN-HOME-CARE ($16.49, paperback, 978-1-62509-933-4; $26.49, hardcover, 978-1-62509-934-1; $8.99, e-book, 978-1-62509-935-8) Lora D. King outlines the grim facts and statistics about Alzheimer’s disease. Furthermore, she shares first-hand experience as the primary caregiver for her father, for approximately ten years. King also advocates that many A.D. patients remain in their homes with awareness, knowledge and information about managing the disease; and with the assistance of affordable, trained, in-home caregivers.

“Stolen was not written to alarm you,” states the author. “It was written: to increase awareness; to encourage discussions about the disease with family members; and to develop a plan of care should it be necessary to care for an A.D. patient in your family.”

Los Angeles California native, Lora King, B.A., M.A., M.F.C.C., has been a social worker for most of her adult life and continues to serve and embolden those who require her special brand of sensitivity and insight. Her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2004 at which time she knew little of the disease. Since then she has researched and studied A.D. vigilantly, participated in a variety of clinical and research studies, and utilized the services of her local Alzheimer’s Association and Caregiver Resource Center. She is on the Advisory Board of the African American Community Advisory Council in association with the Mary Easton Center for Alzheimer’s disease Research at U.C.L.A.
