Dr. Ernest C. Hynds is an emeritus professor of journalism and mass communication, and former department head in the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. Hynds has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Emory University, as well as a Masters in political science and a Doctorate in history from the University of Georgia. Dr. Hynds has served as Sunday school teacher, deacon, committee chairman, moderator and historian in his long-time church home, and has written its history in Always Becoming New, a History of First Baptist Church, Athens, Georgia. He was married to the late Mary Ann Jaynes Hynds, to whom this book is dedicated.
