MAITLAND, FL— Co-authors, James McCormick and Melissa Dishner’s new book, Growing Up On A Red Dog Road ($12.99, paperback, 9781626976436; $6.99, e-book, 9781626976443) is the riveting autobiography of a boy growing up in rural West Virginia during the Great Depression. Born to an alcoholic father, the future didn’t seem promising, especially in the midst of an entire nation’s financial collapse. However, God made a way, and miraculously brought salvation to every member in this young man’s family—plus many more feats that exceed the imagination. This book is a picture of God glorified in James McCormick’s life.

“[I hope that readers grasp] that God has plans for us beyond what we have ever imagined for ourselves. He is strongest when we are the weakest,” states the author. “Our journeys through life are only made worthwhile through our relationship with Jesus Christ.”

James McCormick served in the U.S. Air force for twenty years, retiring as a staff sergeant. He obtained his minister’s license in the United Methodist church in 1953 and has served as a pastor over churches in both West Virginia and Virginia. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in religious studies, and later graduated from Lynchburg College earning a Masters in learning disabilities. He currently resides in Princeton, WV, with his wife and son. Melissa Dishner graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s in English, and now resides with her husband and children in Lashmeet, WV.
