He is presently the pastor of the Congregational Church in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Russell has been married forty years and has three adult children. Russell studied the Book of Judges over a four-year period. During that time he read multiple books and articles producing an annotated bibliography for the Book of Judges. Russell's Th.M. thesis was titled The Prophetic Role of the Judges. Since that time, Russell has taught the book of Judges through preaching and in Bible Study settings.
