MAITLAND, FL— In his new book, IN GOD'S HOUSE: The Influence of Societal Trends On Leadership In The Church Serving The Black Community, ($15.49, paperback, 9781498418270; $7.99, e-book, 9781498418287) Dr. HL vanBolden addresses the societal trends within the American culture, specifically within the black church that makes up part of the Body of Christ. Furthermore, he takes a close look at how this affects the community church. His book also speaks to the issue of how the trends that are acceptable in society are changing and affecting the church instead of the opposite—the leadership of the church leading the church to effectively change society.

“This book points out the mandate of the community church as being a directive that is set forth, not to be changed by society, or be reflective in its teaching and preaching of the society that it serves,” states the author. “However, it should be one that seeks to change society through the transforming power of the gospel of Christ.”

Reverend vanBolden began his ministry serving as an associate minister with his home church in North Texas, where his preaching ministry began in 2002. He is also founder of the VSSA Scholarship Awards, which has helped to provide academic scholarships for African American students to colleges and universities across the United States. Dr. vanBolden has been happily married for eighteen years, and has one son.
