MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of his new book, Built to Last: How to Build an Effective, Disciple-Making Church with Love and Patience, ($15.99, paperback, 9781498428170; $7.99, e-book, 9781498428187) Dr. Nelson Kung presents a theologically informed and spiritually transformed strategy for discipling a congregation so that its congregants can experience spiritual maturity and become obedient to Jesus’ call to fulfill the Great Commission. Firsthand experience has shown the author that the disciple-making ministry is not simply an option, rather an often-overlooked necessity in the body of Christ. Subsequently, the book’s text stresses that very need.

“This book takes us back to Jesus’ mandate of disciple-making as ministry core and essence,” states the author. “This book will call for a strategy for growing a spiritually mature, disciple-making church using our congregation as an example, and extrapolating principles and strategies for all readers to apply to their own church situation.”

Dr. Nelson Kung was born in a poor and broken family where his father was a heroin addict for many years, and his mother abandoned the family for good when he was just two years old. The author had to work and learned how to cook when he was four years old in order to survive. Life was always tough and bad in those days. However, his life was completely transformed when a missionary brought Christ in to his life at the age of seventeen. As soon as he became a Christian, he was discipled, and later on, he discipled others. Disciple-making became the very breath of Dr. Kung’s Christian walk. Rev. Dr. Nelson Kung is the founder and senior pastor of Fuller Life Church and a disciple-maker in Toronto, Canada. He is married to Fanny, and they have two children: Joseph and Shervonne.
