MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of Rev. Dr.
Earl C. Johnson’s new book, Prophetic Speech In A Non-Prophetic Age, ($20.99,
paperback, 9781498402033; $9.99, e-book, 9781498402040) readers review the burning
social issues of today while challenging America’s urban churches in the area
of Prophetic Speech in a Non-Prophetic Age. In his deep-seated analysis, the
author discusses ways to save urban communities by addressing the pathologies
that trap people into positions of isolation and class warfare. He believes
that the “prophetic voice” of local churches has been silenced while its
congregations suffer from a leadership dearth in the church community, the
silence of black clergy on social issues, the myths surrounding health care,
the HIV/AIDS crisis, and the mass incarceration of black men and women. A
compelling question raised in this book is: Does the African American church
have a social agenda for congregations that are suffering from bad political policies,
poverty, job loss, social engineering, voter suppression, community violence
and mass incarceration?
“I hope all readers – especially those who practice Christianity socially and follow a liberal interpretation of the bible and have a heart for saving humanity from the ills of society – would find in this book a blueprint for engaging in issues that trap individuals in positions of isolation and class warfare, among other things,” states the author.
