MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of Gloria Martin’s new book, I Cry In The Shower - Loving Silas Living With Cancer, ($13.99, paperback, 9781498446747; $6.99, e-book, 9781498446754) readers will discover the story of young Silas’ short life, and the irreplaceable bond he and his mother shared. A professed born-again Christian, Gloria Martin recounts the struggles of being human in this world, struggles of caring for a terminally ill child, all while dealing with recovery from other hurts, habits, and hang-ups every person faces in their lifetime. Gloria shares her story of Silas’ life exactly as she shared Silas, with open arms, with eternal gratitude for every second she was allowed to care for him on this earth. This book is full of raw journal entries from Gloria, written as she experienced the tremendous journey of hope and loss through the end of Silas’ life. Now, she hopes she can be an inspiration and help to others who may be caregivers to those with a devastating illness.

I would like readers to gain hope,” states the author. “Even when facing terminal or chronic illness, God is faithful. Silas taught by example, living with hope, despite his often-grim outlook as a teenager with brain cancer. I want readers to know it is okay for the caretaker to fall. Nobody does it perfectly. God catches us, and will provide.”

Gloria Martin made the providential decision to give up her career, to be a stay at home mom when her third child was born. She provided that "something extra" Silas required his entire life. Gloria had received Christ while in treatment for alcoholism ten years before Silas was born. She lived with undiagnosed bipolar disorder until the time her son was in the end stages of his final brain tumor. A woman of deep faith, Gloria kept friends and family members informed of Silas' challenges via email and Facebook. This practice became her "voice" to the public as God delivered her from her personal demons. From her home in Decatur, Illinois, Gloria continues to write daily, posting devotionals on Facebook.
