She also wants to ensure the safety of children around the world when they call upon a local volunteer fireman to help during an emergency. Eye-catching full color illustrations by Sharon Merchant add whimsical charm to the story. Children will be delighted with this awesome adventure and parents will appreciate the message presented. It’s a book to be enjoyed over and over again.

I hope that young readers around the world will gain the trust of fireman and see them as people versus strangers,” states the author. “In these times it is very difficult for children to know whom they may call as a trusted friend in their life.”

Shirley Rigozzi has had many influences in her life that led to the creation of this book – from writing her first storybook in elementary school to following her son David’s interest in firefighting. She has a great love for children; raising her own two sons and countless children that were in and out of her home. Being a photographer for 21 years, a scout leader for 28 years, and working at a school for 17 years with EI students, she has a creative passion and a natural desire to teach children. As a professional photographer, she has had the privilege to accompany the fire department on many training burns – taking photos, watching and learning. She witnessed firsthand the love that her son David has for his fellow firefighters. It’s no wonder that those experiences sparked the writing of her wonderful fireman themed children’s book.
