MAITLAND, FL— Mark Wright’s new book, The Game of Life, ($10.99, paperback, 9781498468350) is a fun yet enlightening action filled Vacation Bible School (VBS) or youth oriented book filled with great analogies of man’s three parts, which are body, soul, and spirit. He makes a uniquely creative comparison to a basketball – also features three parts: outer covering, inner liner, and the air. There is God’s team and the Devil’s team. Both want to WIN. The star player is Jesus Christ. God the Father is the Coach. The Holy Spirit is the water, air, and ball boy. God’s Word is the referee. There are also cheerleaders. The opposing team has the Devil as coach. Death is their star player, along with Time marking each second and minute.
The book has 5 scenes that are easy to learn and put together for a great VBS or Youth Program. Each scene is progressive starting with Christ’s sacrifice, then a Christian’s sanctification, salvation, stewardship, and service to Him. Mark also includes a few memories about his mission trip to the Philippines, where 100+ youth and adults professed Christ as their personal savior.
In addition, Mark Wright includes a biography of Dr. James Naismith, a wonderful Christian coach and the founder of the game of basketball. Mark’s burden for the youth was given to him many years ago and he is convinced this book along with God’s Word, His Spirit, and a burdened heart can bring many to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
“My personal opinion is we need to get back to the basics of loving people as Jesus loved people on this earth and He still does today,” states the author. “The skits are purely parabolic and that is the way our Lord reached people and taught his disciples. And the Great Commission is just as relevant to God as it was 2,000 years ago. Some methods may change, but the message is the same.”
Mark Wright’s experience in ministry goes back almost 30 years. He was a youth pastor, assistant pastor, and has now been a pastor for almost 14 years. He wrote 3 books. He holds a Masters Degree in Religious Education. For the past 20 years, he has been mission minded and has seen the need on foreign and domestic fields alike. Mark worked with his local youth rallies for 10 years. He is currently working on his Certified Biblical Counselors Certification. He also lived through many heart wrenching experiences that he shared in book number two.
This book has had 2 years of field-testing with local churches and has also been taken on the mission field and proved successful. He received numerous reports that a lot of the believers that made professions of faith are still attending church on the mission field.
