Through Portland Ecumenical ministries, Eleanor Steele Porath helped to create life enrichment programs for the mentally and emotionally challenged in public, private and personal settings. As a lay pastor she made in home visits to the downtrodden in low income housing areas of NW Portland. She has a passion for giving hope, help and growth to others as witnessed through her life’s work as director of children’s ministry, bible schools, church camps, church secretary and Shriners Hospital. Her love of books has allowed her to start five different private libraries. At the age of 89, her next project is to publish three children’s stories.
