MAITLAND, FL—Whatever!” It’s a statement that in recent years reflects an attitude of indifference toward a thought/decision/feeling from another person. However, to author and pastor Terry Pooler, “whatever” is the key to a refreshingly simple yet profound theory of salvation. Terry Pooler’s new book, The Whatever Factor - A Salvation Theory for Thinkers, ($15.99, paperback, 9781498480932; $7.99, e-book, 9781498480949) describes his created terms of “WHATever” and “whatEVER” to highlight what could be the reasons behind hypocritical Christians who believe their salvation is secure, but have little motivation to change their lifestyles to represent Him.

Readers can thank Mark Goldstein, president of the Central Florida Christian Chamber of Commerce, for coercing Terry Pooler to write this thought-provoking book. This is what Mark said to Terry:

“Pastor, you have to write a book about your ‘Whatever’ concept. You answer key questions that no one else in the Christian literary world has done. You must.”

According to author Terry Pooler, a “WHATever” attitude is one where the person knows the wrongdoing he/she has done, but feels little guilt and has no compelling reason to change. A “whatEVER" attitude believes that once a person accepts Jesus it should be followed by a “whatever it takes” attitude to becoming transformed to reflect His passions, desires and goals. He explains that salvation is not based merely upon performance nor a “come to Jesus” moment, but upon one’s commitment to this transformation of character. As readers learn the characteristics within a “whatEVER” attitude, they will show Jesus to others who need Him most.

I hope readers gain the peace of mind in knowing that one's theory of salvation is profoundly simple, can be embraced in everyday life, is biblically sound, and yet can withstand the closest scrutiny of both believer and unbeliever,” states the author. I want to trigger the imaginative ‘I can't wait to get there’ spark of anticipation about heaven. Most discussions about heaven focus merely on the initial excitement; the Whatever Factor asks the question, ‘what will you do after the first two months?’”

Terry Pooler brings forty-three years of experience pastoring both denominational and non-denominational churches, including a church plant. His doctoral studies were enriched within diverse environments at Boston University (United Methodist), Episcopal Divinity School, Andrews University (Seventh-day Adventist), in addition to his home campus Andover Newton Theological School (American Baptist & United Church of Christ). He has had the privilege of traveling internationally to Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, Korea, Newfoundland, Quebec, Ontario, and across America as a motivational speaker, professor of exegetical preaching and a mentor for building inclusive worship atmospheres that attract the unbeliever.
