MAITLAND, FL— The Seventh-day Adventist Church was officially organized in 1863. Since that time 17 men have led as this small denomination grew from a few hundred to more than 19 million baptized adult members around the world. Within the pages of DeWitt S. Williams’s new book, Spirit Filled Leadership, ($29.99, paperback, 9781498446785; $9.99, e-book, 9781498446792) the author writes about some of the Seventh-day Adventist leaders – the men and women at the top of the organizational chain – who believed, inspired, and faithfully followed God’s instruction in Matthew 24:14 to evangelize the world. Starting with the first world president, John Byington, and continuing to the current leader, Ted N. C. Wilson, this outstanding volume profiles the contributions of these devoted leaders. It also portrays the facts about the secretaries and treasurers of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

A reader would be hard-pressed to find another book that gives this wealth of comprehensive information. The author has personally known many of these presidents, secretaries and treasurers. Over 400 pictures will help paint the portraits and tell the story about their families and the growth of the Church. Readers will derive insight as well as inspiration from the lives of the persons presented in these portraits.

I hope readers will see that growth requires a struggle and a march,” states the author. “When things got tough, these leaders drew on their spirit-filled faith to keep on going. They trusted the promises of the Bible and the counsel of Ellen G. White, the prophetic gift to this Church.”
