MAITLAND, FL—
Helen VanEck Holub’s new book, Guided
by the Spirit ($14.99, paperback, 9781602668713) is
a book of inspirational Christian poetry and short stories citing various
Psalms. It offers comfort and warmth to those who need it, citing ways in which
God guides and loves us all. Inspiring to readers who may wish to also write
poetry or love the Lord, especially those who have been through some kind of
sorrow in their lives and need consolation.
Helen VanEck Holub says, “I
believe my book has been a tremendous assistance to many who I have met in
hospitals or in everyday life because they have told me so, many times. We need
guidance and love in our lives and I have tried hard to provide that which God
has given me throughout my life. God is love and offers us hope and peace--something
we all need in the world now. It was written at a time when I had just
lost our son and a daughter, previously to his death. I would hope that in
writing my feelings about my own sorrow, it would help others.”
Helen VanEck Holub has
written poetry since she was a young child, and is related to John Greenleaf
Whittier on her mother's side of the family. She feels that the love and
comfort she has to give through her writing, with God's help, has been crucial.
Holub has been literally saved from death at least 3 times, and she knows that
Jesus has been there beside her. She also took courses from "Writing for
Children" and learned much from that. However, she feels that she was
'guided by the Spirit' when she wrote her book, thus, the title.
