C-Sharp
Minor: My Mother’s Seventeen-Year Journey through Dementia recounts all phases of one woman's dementia from initial subtle
symptoms through death, yet still tries to honor as well the
"diamonds," or the bright moments glittering amidst the coal. C-Sharp
Minor offers hope for caregivers that we are not alone on the journey
while trying to prepare people honestly for the dark days that will occur.
Ultimately, it reminds us this disease is not the end.
“This book celebrates a life, not just a decline,” said Hall,
who is passionate about the topic of dementia. “5.7 million people today have
Alzheimer's. Hardly anyone doesn't know someone, either among friends or
family, touched by the disease.” Hall is donating 5% of all proceeds she
receives to the Alzheimer's Association.
Deborah P. Hall was raised first in Georgia, then in
southwest Missouri. She won the Gannett Foundation scholarship from the
Springfield News-Leader in 1987 and went on to Carleton College in Northfield,
MN where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum Laude. Hall has also
written A Goodly Heritage, commissioned by First Baptist Church,
Springfield, MO, in honor of their 150th anniversary.
