Author
Barry J. Kughn shares laughter and tears from almost 50 years as a funeral
director in Ain’t She Pretty: Looking Back – A Funeral Director’s Memoirs ($25.99,

Kughn
says while funeral homes tend to be classified as depressing or inherently sad
his experience has taught him that they can be a place of comfort and healing
after the loss of a loved one.
“In
this book, I want to share what it is like to be the person who comforts others,
lightens their mood, encourages them, and helps them make decisions when they
can sometimes barely think,” said Kughn.
Barry
J. Kughn has devoted over 45 years to the funeral profession and has gained
experience in management, training, aftercare, advanced planning and
consulting, has coordinated community events and participated in civic and
church groups. He earned his associates’
degree in Mortuary Science from Jefferson State College. Kughn is a Christian and lives in Hoover,
Alabama. He and his former wife, Sherry,
have three children and seven grandchildren.
