Author
James F. Winter shares a memoir with as much irony within its pages as in its
title: Baptism by Toilet Water ($19.99, paperback, 9781545676233). Inspired by his four siblings, he recounts
the story of their childhood characterized by both abuse and love.
Winter’s father was a raging alcoholic who submitted his wife
and children to a variety of mental and physical abuses. Meanwhile, Winter’s grandparents lived next
door and offered the children the love, support and Christian example they so
desperately needed.
“The premise is how good comes from bad, which on the
surface sounds like an oxymoron, but through these pages the reader will not
only discover the truth of this phrase but also how this process continually
refines Christians into being who they were intended to be,” said Winter.
James
F. Winter is the manager of a Barnes & Noble Booksellers in St. Louis, MO,
a twice-published author and a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Aimee, have two sons and a
daughter.
