Grazing the Fields of Plenty is a non-fiction book about living in the
American culture of “a land of overabundance.” We live in an age of
supersizing; limitless availability of food, drink, screen technologies, news,
healthcare, noise, pills and consumer goods has made us obese, unhealthy,
strapped for money and unhappy stressed-out people. Just looking at all the
pitfalls of living in this culture of more can easily make us depressed.
However, there are solutions to these problems which Dr. Marianne de Deugd
offers with support of extensive research and personal insight from her 30
years of professional counseling expertise. We have to live in this culture,
but we don’t have to get sucked into its unhealthy practices. This book
moves from “what is happening in our culture” to “practical solutions.” It gives a relatable and informative glimpse
into the different areas of our lifestyles in the United States and how we
could benefit from change. Readers will be enlightened by the research, while understanding
the need to change from the author’s compelling stories and professional
insight.
Dr. Marianne de Deugd is a retired professional
Christian counselor. For 30 years she served as director of Royal Palm

was certified by the National Association of Nouthetic counselors, Peacemaker
Ministries, Prison Fellowship, and taught psychology and counseling classes at
Gulf Shore Christian College. During her career she has counseled tens of
thousands of people on how to live well. Besides counseling she has been a
