Author David Shadinger shares hard-earned lessons and practical advice in Promotions in a PR Wilderness: A Guide for Small Businesses, Entrepreneurs and Church Leaders ($14.99, paperback, 9781632210494; $7.99, e-book, 9781632210500).

While enrolled in seminary, Shadinger realized that most church leaders receive little to no training in public relations, and other work experience showed that to be the case with many entrepreneurs as well.  With this in mind, he closes the gap with this PR primer for small businesses and churches.

I have experienced public relations successes and unbelievable failures. Writing this book was my self-therapy way of sharing that hard-earned knowledge,” said Shadinger.

David Shadinger spent nearly 20 years working full-time in public relations, marketing, advertising, and fundraising positions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in radio and television from Purdue University, a master’s degree in public relations from Ball State University, and a doctorate in adult education from North Carolina State University. Since 2009, Shadinger has taught public relations and speech communication at Northwest Missouri State University. He is also a licensed, local pastor in The United Methodist Church serving two open-country churches in Missouri.
