Poole offers readers inspiring, applicable scriptural references to many situations commonly experienced in life. He wants readers to know that they are not alone but instead can find the proper guidance and direction from God’s Word to overcome obstacles. Poole’s definition of following after the truth of God’s Word means that one has to act in faith, move in the instructed direction without preference for their natural feelings and emotions. Poole warns that acting in faith may seem difficult, scary and oftentimes, ridiculous. However, he encourages that once obedience is practiced, it will become easier. Moving in faith and proceeding under His guidance will teach Christians that circumstances as well as one’s own character will change, when they trust in Him.
“I was inspired to write this book because of an impression from God to relate biblical information and references of what is obedience and how better to self-exam ourselves in our walk with the Lord,” said Poole. “This book is for believers or nonbelievers; a scriptural guidance to better your life with biblical references and personal experiences to give real life examples and guidance to the reader.”
Doug Poole attended college at the University of Oklahoma. Then, he served with the Marine Corps, Okinawa and Vietnam, until getting married. His years of training taught him that God’s ways were different from his own and that he needed more training. Growing up on a farm, his godly grandparents proved to be foundational in his development for what was coming in his future. With the school of hard knocks and the Lord woven throughout his life, it brought him in his seventies to finally arrive where God wanted him to be the whole time. Biblical principles finally persuaded Poole to seek the Lord and share with others what God has taught him and to reference God’s principles in the writing of several books. Since retired, Poole has written this book, his fourth. He enjoys motorcycle riding, snow skiing, and traveling with his wife.
