Author Gene A Mullins shares his relatable, true-to-life story with readers in Memoirs of a Fool ($15.99, paperback, 9781662840852; $7.99, e-book, 9781662840869).

This autobiography tells the true-to-life story of the author; a glimpse of how one young man failed many times as he tried desperately to find success in “his way” instead of in “God’s Way.”  Mullins grew up on a small farm in East Tennessee with an adventuresome spirit, preferring the outdoors. He was often found roaming the hills in search of arrowheads, hunting rabbits, swinging on grape vines with his siblings, or riding horses. As his enthusiastic horizon expanded to other activities, such as gardening, motorcycles, and martial arts, the thought of surrendering to God’s will and the ministry was the last thing he wanted to hear.

As God’s voice grew relentlessly stronger, Mullins began to balk—running from it. Although Mullin did experience successes, true meaning remained elusive. Just when he thought he had it, realization proved otherwise. The success that he desperately craved did happen, but only after his total surrender to his Lord. He now possessed a determined focus to remain faithful in the service of the Lord. Then, “only imagined” opportunities began to present themselves to him. Today, his life is fulfilled as he serves in his second pastorate by keeping “God’s Way” as his guide.

When asked what inspired him to write his book, Mullins said, “It was divinely inspired during the installation service of my first pastorate.”

Gene A Mullins resides in Kingsport, Tennessee with his wife, Brenda. He is currently serving as pastor of Reservoir Road Missionary Baptist Church. Mullins is a first-time author who came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at age twelve and accepted the call to ministry in his latter twenties. His undergraduate studies were completed at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. He received a Master of Divinity Degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Mullins enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, in addition to reading, studying the scriptures, preparing sermons/teaching lessons, and riding his motorcycle.
