Author Hildegard Bonacker Bruni shares a seldom-told part of world history with Gone With The World Wars: God’s Love Heals All Wounds ($27.99, paperback, 9781662847097; $39.99, hard cover, 9781662847103; $9.99, e-book, 9781662847110).

Hildegard Bonacker Bruni’s parents, Gustav and Emilie Bonacker, were born in East Prussia and lived through both world wars.  In this memoir, Bruni shares her family’s story of displacement after their homeland was given over to another country in the aftermath of World War II. After Gustav was drafted into the army in 1944, Emilie and her children had to flee in horse and buggy to the refuge of Sophienhof.  The family endured hunger, sickness, freezing temperatures and bombings.  Their story is one of God’s incredible faithfulness in the face of unbelievable hardship.
