Author Nancy I. Penton encourages readers to connect with God in a myriad of ways in Praying with Pictures: Paths to Creative Contemplation ($28.49, paperback, 9781662851520; $40.49, hard cover, 9781662851537; $9.99, e-book, 9781662851544).

If we are willing to accept that some people communicate best through speech, others through the written word and others through visual or performing arts, why then do we expect prayer to be only spoken words?  Penton guides readers through creative pathways to connect with their Inner Guide, the Holy Spirit, and rethink the popular definition of prayer.

Readers will find this compilation as a devotional invitation to connect with God and experience God through Scriptures, word pictures, coloring pages, and color photographs with invitations to pause and reflect with heartfelt prayers, said Penton.

Nancy I. Penton is a chaplain, spiritual director, and retreat leader in prayer and contemplative practices, and she teaches classes in practical theology as an adjunct professor at McAfee School of Theology. She holds a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Spirituality from Mercer University, and currently serves at her local Vineyard church in facilitating, teaching, and pastoral care. Along with her spouse, Allen, Penton enjoys family gatherings, camping, hiking, photography, storytelling, and traveling to state and national parks.
