Author Chris Pohlod spins the uncomfortable topic of divorce into an adorable and reassuring story for children in Do Clouds Get Divorced Too? ($29.99, paperback, 9781662860867; $9.99, e-book, 9781662860874).

As a pediatrician and a child of divorce, Dr. Pohlod knows personally and professionally the effects that divorce has on children. He also knows how those repercussions, if not dealt with, can affect the next generation’s marriage as well. His thought-provoking book is a must-have book for any parents worried how a divorce or separation is affecting their children.

Young readers and parents will follow the story’s main characters, Lizzie and her dad, as they journey through Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore where clouds prompt the question, "Do clouds get divorced too?" Lizzie introduces youngsters to Ckevan the cloud, his family, and the Sun as they recover from divorce. Written in part by children from a Christian support group for kids (Little Pieces Club), readers will be presented with real and honest content yet designed to provide hope to children of divorce. Dr. Pohlod took great care to ensure that each page offers reliable information and open-ended questions to spark good family conversation, aimed to help rebuild resilient family cultures.

“Over my time working with divorced children, I realized one key barrier they face is the division of emotional honesty that becomes acute between children and parents because of the parental separation,” said Dr. Pohlod. “Children very often naturally protect their parents from their strong feelings of sadness and anger or know the expression of those feelings will not be welcome. This impacts a child's emotional intelligence and that impacts their adult relationships. I also lived the consequences of divorce as my own did not prepare me for marriage and it became toxic. With God's miraculous help, I learned many lessons that I just cannot keep to myself. The Mission of LPC Ministries is bringing shalom (deep abiding peace) back to children, parents and God. This mission inspired the book.”

Dr. Chris Pohlod has been a pediatrician for 14 years. He created and leads Little Pieces Club, a small ministry for divorced and separated children. He was a speaker at a CME conference for health care providers, presenting the data about how divorce impacts children. Aside from loving being a husband and father, Dr. Pohlod is also a triathlon enthusiast, enjoys coaching community level soccer, fishing and being the caretaker, inside and out, of his family’s home.
