Blair’s wonderful collection of short stories, some written decades ago, had been stashed in a duffel bag under a bed. Lucky for the book’s young readers, the bag of stories was pulled out from the darkness. Blair’s imaginative thoughts brought the characters from each story to life as she imagined them collectively saying, “We almost turned to dust in the duffel.” Each of the book’s full of life characters has a story to tell about persevering challenges and thereby discovering important life lessons. Spiritual growth lessons explore wishing, trusting, self-discovery, feeling important and more. Each quick-to-read story provides the reader with many valuable morals that parents and children will appreciate.
When asked what inspired the author to publish these stories, Blair said, “At all times, all people need the Lord. Most people plan for the future, why not plan for eternity?”
Jean Blair was born into a huge and diverse family, which, over time, became more enormous and even more diverse. Sitting at the family table was like sitting in the United Nations. Blair and her four siblings grew up in Queens, New York, which gave her a taste of every single part of the world. She considers herself everyone’s neighbor. When she was a very young child, her mother introduced her to the Lord. She recalls being aware of His presence from the time she was about four or five years old. Besides authoring and illustrating this book, Blair enjoys writing poetry, singing and telling stories.
