G. Bernard was born in the 1950s in Atlanta GA, at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was one of the many “Grady babies” as were referred to back in the day. He grew up in what is called the Old Fourth Ward in a neighborhood known as “Buttermilk Bottoms,” called that because people were so poor that many could not afford fresh milk or “sweet milk”. As a child, Bernard was unaware that he was considered poor, only remembering the happy-go-lucky days, full of fun, warm springs and hot summers. He attended historical, David T. Howard High School, one of the few high schools available to black kids in Atlanta in the 1940’s. Bernard holds a BS degree from Georgia State University. He was raised in the Baptist church and ordained a Deacon of the church in 2014.
A. Ellary was born in the 1950s in Newark New Jersey, but grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the third child of six in a family full of love. She was raised in the Baptist church. Her father was a Deacon in the church. Studying scripture was part of her family life. She graduated from Cheney high school and attended Youngstown State University. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the 80’s and began a new career in the medical field. It was there that she met her wonderful husband. Ellary believes that God had this planned for her all the while. He was looking for her and she was looking for him, leading them to begin their spiritual journey together. Their hobbies are reading, sports, and outdoor activities including fishing and hiking.
