Author Dione Beaty provides an entertaining read for youngsters that encourages an appreciation for nature in Bengal And The Tree Trunk ($10.99, paperback, 9781662878053; $4.99, e-book, 9781662878060).

Beaty’s juvenile fiction takes young readers on a thought-provoking adventure with Bengal the cat. As Bengal searches for food by the river, this adorable feline stumbles upon a beautiful surprise. It’s a lovely representation of God’s nature, a floating tree trunk covered in delicate pink flowers. This unexpected sight captivates Bengal, causing it to pause and fully admire the delightful view before continuing a quest for food. This book is a clever and imaginative way to help children learn about God through the wonder of nature.

When asked what inspired the author to write this book, Beaty said, “Although there have been recent challenges, discovering comfort and inspiration in God and nature can be a fantastic experience. When children learn about how God has interconnected us through the beauty of nature, it motivates them to explore and comprehend their surroundings.”

Dione Beaty was born in Dominica, where she spent twenty-four years of her life prior to immigrating to the United States. Having worked on a farm, Beaty saw the movement of the animals when on the hunt. The farm was full of lively cats that would playfully roam around, chasing after some unknown target. Whenever it rained, they sought refuge on the porch, only to come out again to resume their hunting escapades. Much of Beaty’s time is spent crafting abstract drawings of trees and tree trunks. Her faith in God and love for nature have led her to this place. Her love for trees and art has inspired her to create stunning wearable pieces made from recycled plastic containers thanks to a fantastic organization. One of Beaty’s greatest joys is smelling the delicious scents of her homemade cooking wafting from the kitchen.
