Author Dr. Marvin Timothy Smith provides a thought-provoking and inspirational exploration of one’s faith in The Pandemic: How My Faith Was Challenged, But Not Changed ($12.49, paperback, 9781662866951; $5.99, e-book, 9781662866968).

As the world was impacted by the pandemic, Dr. Marvin Timothy Smith took special note of how everyone was challenged to change in every way. He especially evaluated the change in the way the world worked, shopped, travelled, communicated and worshipped. These new realities compelled Dr. Smith to read, study and compile a series of inspirational and challenging messages from the Book of Hebrews. Specifically focusing on chapter 11, the author recognized the comparisons of Scripture to the "disruptions" being experienced during the pandemic. His book provides a thorough and interesting examination of how the similar challenges were handled, the outcomes and what can be learned from their example. This book is the epitome of motivation – must-have encouraging words needed at this very time.

When asked what inspired the author to write his book, Smith said, “I was haunted by the question, ‘How can I practice my faith in the midst of fearful, hopeless, and tragic times?’

For nearly 25 years, Dr. Marvin Timothy Smith has served as Senior Pastor of the Mt. Olive Institutional Baptist Church of Saginaw, Michigan.
