Through her main character, Debra Brewer, the author depicts her own experiences as she picked up and moved to an Alaskan island for a nursing assignment as a way to start anew after a traumatic divorce. Graem shares her crisis of faith and how she was able to learn new ways to put her trust in God.

“This book is intended to display examples of the way that God fashions his children into lovely jewels that reflect the image of His Son. Sometimes this happens with a hammer of dreadful events that everyone faces at some point in [their] journey,” states the author. “[Other times] it happens through the chipping [of the] daily grind of an ordinary routine. The lovely result pleases the Father and brings joy to the soul of the polished stone.”

Debra Graem graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1996 and is an RN, BSN. She has worked virtually every surgical floor in a hospital setting as well as the ER. She spent five years as a travel nurse working ninety day assignments in various states and in various capacities. She wrote the Laughter, Caffeine and Chocolate series during the long winters that she spent in Alaska while there as a travel nurse.
